Pros of the New Macbook Pro;

  • It has a great overall performance
  • Weighs less than other laptops in its class
  • Able to run both Windows XP or OS X
  • Web cam is of high quality
  • It's carved out of solid aluminium, creating a lighter, stronger and more environmentally friendly feel.
  • The edges of the laptops are tapered making them look thinner than they really are.
  • The glass-coated multi-touch trackpad is so much easier now for manipulating images & windows and to navitgate through web browser pages - a click with one finger generates a left click and a tap with two fingers generates a right click. A four finger swipe can be used on and off the screen to move application windows ala Expose.

Cons;

  • Display is too glossy and definitely glare-prone.
  • Loss of Firewire 400 leaving with one Firewire 800 and 2 USB ports
  • The apple remote is no longer free.
  • Multi-touch trackpad is too narrow for multi-touch hand gestures
  • With the new look of the keyboard, it's much harder to do repair.
  • There is now no distinction from a Macbook & the Macbook Pro.

Bottom Line:

Aside from the display and the similarity with Macbooks, the new Macbook Pro is certainly a great contender in the classy and chic laptop field!
